From Battery Consult to Saleon AG

A new era of sustainable energy storage

Founded in 2008 by Dr Cord-Henrich Dustmann, a physicist with profound expertise in energy storage. Right from the beginning, he pursued the goal of developing sustainable, safe and powerful battery systems through the further development of ZEBRA technology.

From consulting to technological leadership

Originally founded as a consulting company, Battery Consult AG supported industrial partners in layout planning for salt battery production systems, the development of cost-efficient production processes and the optimisation of electricity-driven systems. A first major milestone followed in 2010 with a technology transfer agreement with the Itaipu Technological Park Foundation in Brazil, which led to the establishment of a technology laboratory in Meiringen, Switzerland. This research facility became an innovation centre where new salt battery cell types were developed and their efficiency, reliability and cost structure were continuously optimised.

As technological maturity advanced, Battery Consult transitioned from being solely a consulting service provider to becoming a leading developer and producer of battery solutions. The focus here was always on scalability and cost-effectiveness in order to industrialise the technology for widespread use – without losing the principles of sustainability.

The transformation to Saleon AG in 2025 marks another significant milestone and emphasises the change from a consulting-oriented company to a fully-fledged technology provider.

Today, Saleon AG develops and produces scalable, safe and sustainable battery energy storage systems (BESS) for industry, critical infrastructures and regional and national power grids.

With a clear commitment to European supply chains, the highest safety standards and environmentally friendly storage solutions, Saleon sets standards in the energy sector.
